On a recent to visit NYC’s Chelsea Gallery District, I was captivated by the beautiful light pouring in through the vintage glass windows of the post-war buildings. It gave their passageways a luminous, gritty elegance. The varied textures and muted colors of those well-worn spaces seemed to be the perfect canvas. Capturing the found light that artfully illuminates and transforms those stairwells and hallways each day was a labor of love to paint. On reflection, and with a healthy dose of irony, I'm certain I spent more time studying the spaces between the galleries, than the galleries themselves.
